CDCP and fee questions

Does West Block Dental accept CDCP?

Yes. We accept the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We confirm your coverage before treatment and bill Sun Life directly, so you only pay any co-pay or amount the plan does not cover. We explain that before we start.

Who qualifies for CDCP?

Canadian residents for tax purposes who filed last year's tax return, have an adjusted family net income under $90,000, and have no private or employer dental insurance. Coverage through a government social program (for example AISH in Alberta) does not usually stop you from qualifying; the plans can work together. If you only have a provincial plan, it is still worth applying for CDCP: it often covers more and pays more than provincial plans alone, and we can coordinate benefits so there is often less left for you to pay. Ask us to check.

How do I apply for CDCP?

Apply through My Service Canada Account on canada.ca or call Service Canada at 1-833-537-4342. Applying is free. CDCP will never ask you to pay to apply.

What is the Alberta Dental Association fee guide?

A yearly list of suggested fees for common dental procedures, published by the Alberta Dental Association. The 2026 guide for general dentists runs January 1 to December 31, 2026. It is only a guide. Our actual fees may vary, so ask us for a quote before your visit.

Do dentists have to charge the fee guide amount?

No. The fees are suggestions. Each dentist sets their own fees and can be above or below the guide. Our actual fees may vary from it, so ask us for a quote before your visit.
